UPDATE - The Snares (Identification Numbers and Tags) (Scotland) Order 2012

On 24 October 2012, a Commencement Amendment Order was laid before the Scottish Parliament which amends the date for using ID tags on snares from 1 January 2013 to 1 April 2013.

The Snares (Identification Numbers and Tags) (Scotland) Order 2012 was also laid yesterday which sets out the process for applying for and issuing identification numbers and as well as setting out the tagging process.

The Orders are due to come into force on 22 November 2012.  This means that snaring operators will be able to apply for a snaring ID number from their local police force from this date, although there is no requirement to use them until 1 April 2013.

This will give snaring operators a reasonable period of time to apply for an ID number and to be issued with one.
