Scottish Government publish 9th annual monitoring figures since introduction of access legislation

The Scottish Government has recently published monitoring information on the operation of various aspects of Scotland’s access legislation for the year 2011/12.  This information is gathered from local authorities and the two national park authorities each year.  It includes information on the use of local authority powers to temporarily restrict access rights (Section 11 powers) and to order the removal of obstructions to access rights (Section 14 powers), as well as expenditure on paths creation and maintenance, the costs involved in employing outdoor access staff and operating local access forums (the latter is a statutory requirement).
