Willie Rennie, MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife and Leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats visited Atholl Estates today (19 October 2012) to learn of the various enterprises which take place on a large estate and how each activity contributes to the overall financial viability of the estate.
After a presentation from General Manager Andrew Bruce Wootton, Mr Rennie was given a tour of the estate and of the recently opened visitor information centre.
The visitor information centre is the result of many years of consultation and project development within the village of Blair Atholl and recognises its location as an entry point to the Cairngorms National Park. Using an existing, and much loved landmark which was the old school's dining hall, work is now substantially completed to deliver enhanced parking and modern visitor information services
The visitor information centre and public toilets opened in July 2012 as phase 1 and the extended car park facilities will be completed by the end of December. Formal A9 signage to the venue was erected earlier this month, all of which places Blair Atholl in an excellent position to harvest tourism growth in 2013 onwards.
The visit was part of an ongoing series of MSP visits organised by Regional Manager Scott Petrie.
