Narrow approval for Local Development Plan

Stirling Council has narrowly approved its Local Development Plan, including removing a controversial allocation for housing at Airthrey Kerse near Bridge of Allan.

However, the special meeting saw anger that plans for more than 5000 houses in the Bannockburn ward and a Kildean-Stirling University link road remained.

The draft LDP was passed by 11 votes to 10, with Tory and Labour councillors voting for and the SNP opposition and Green councillor Mark Ruskell voting against.
