Scottish Budget Discussions

Our Head of Policy this week attended a roundtable discussion with John Swinney MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Employment and Sustainable Growth, and Angela Constance MSP, Minister for Youth Employment, to discuss the priorities for Scotland 2013/2014 budget 2013. Mr Swinney underlined that the current priorities of economic growth and preventative measures to stem demand public services remain foundation of budget thinking for next year. The continued support for land based businesses, which provide a wide range of  economic, social and environmental benefit, was highlighted by Scottish Land & Estates and others. Mr Swinney intends to lay the Budget Bill before the Scottish Parliament by 20 September 2012.
