Scottish Land & Estates took to the north last week as they toured Black Isle, Moy and Turriff shows. At Black Isle we had to endure the rain on Thursday but it wasnt able to douse our enthusiasm, particularly as we received regular updates on Team GB's results in London!. The weather improved during the afternoon and we were able to welcome a number of members, guests and VIPs, including the leader of the Scottish Conservatives, Ruth Davidson who was being guided by Highland MSP Mary Scanlon.Ruth was one of a number of local and national politicians who made their way to this the largest of the northern summer shows.
In contrast, Moy Game Fair was in its best livery on Friday and Saturday. Rain had been replaced by warm balmy weather and big crowds arrived for both days entertainment, competition and of course, shopping at the many trading stands. Our first day began with a visit from Fergus Ewing MSP and Minister for Energy and Tourism before the stand filled with members and guests from across the Highlands. Saturday is normally a quieter day for us but not this year, a steady stream of visitors produced our busiest ever second day at Moy. Thanks to Luke Borwick and Tony Stevenson and all our HQ staff who helped including our CEO Doug McAdam. Particular thanks to Gordon Robertson, Donna Skelly and Jamie Williamson for giving their time to welcome everyone. Thanks to Highland Committee member Fiona Gibson for bringing her new baby to see us and to Andrew Hamilton for his excellent advice.
