Lewis estate community buyout makes progress

Islanders living on one of Scotland’s most important ancient landscapes, famous for the Callanish standing stones, have taken a step forward towards buying their land. At a public meeting on Tuesday night residents voted 49-3 to set up a steering group and explore the pros and cons of a buyout. The panel will commission a feasibility study and report to the community.
