DECC announcement on Renewable Heat Incentive Budget Management

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) consulted on a mechanism for managing the non-domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) budget in the short term and this week published their response.  DECC does not envisage having to use this mechanism to suspend the scheme given current uptake figures.  Nevertheless, they have set an upper limit of £70m for 2012/13 and should the stand-by mechanism need to be used this will be done when the spend in 2012/13 is forecast to reach £67.9m (97% of the £70m limit) with a formal notification period of one week.
