Ardnamurchan Whisky firm get planning permission

Adelphi Distillery Ltd of Ardnamurchan were granted planning permission yesterday for the first (legal) Malt Whisky distillery on the Peninsula. The company hope to employ a large cohort of  workers during the construction phase and up to 4 permanent staff in the remote west coast development. Adelphi Chairman Keith Falconer of Laudale Estate said he and his board 'were delighted with the decison made by Highland Councillors and quite content with the conditions attached to the permission' which included around £20,000 of road improvements. He said he 'couldn't wait to get on site and construction would start immediately'.  The application attracted a large number of letters of support and objections from local people and community councils. Mr Falconer announced last week that the new Malt will be called 'Ardnamurchan'
