Scottish Government has announced that payments from the Less Favoured Area Support Scheme will start to arrive in bank accounts from March 15.
The Scottish Government has now authorised payment of 9,900 claims to farmers and crofters worth £55.4 million – 85 per cent of the total funding for the scheme. This level of initial authorisation, taking in the majority of recipients, is very welcome.
Scottish Government tell us that they will be embarking on a series of payment runs over the next week, so payments arriving in accounts will be staggered.
Once they have managed to provide payment to the majority of recipients, they will be moving through the outstanding cases. There will be approximately 1600 recipients in this category and Scottish Government ensures us that they will be dealing with these cases as quickly as possible. If you encounter difficulties please let us know.
