West of Scotland MSP Stuart McMillan visited Noddsdale in Largs on Monday 12 March to learn more about their enterprise and hydro scheme and how this has added to their future plans.
The Scottish Parliament Economy, Energy & Tourism Committee member was given an insight into the history of their hydro scheme which was initially installed in the early 1900's and has since been through three upgrades, the most recent of which saw major improvements allowing all power to be directed to the national grid. Mr McMillan was provided with a history of the hydro before going out to view the project and manually power up the hydro. Those in attendance then returned to Noddsdale House to take a tour of their holiday accommodation before sitting down to discuss regional and national topics including tourism in the South West of Scotland, renewable targets and education.
Teresa Dougall, Scottish Land & Estates South West & South East Regional Manager commented:
"We were delighted that Mr McMillan agreed to visit Noddsdale and look at their projects. As always, we appreciated the time given to us to also sit down and discuss important rural matters. We hope that this visit provided Mr McMillan with an insight into on the ground projects and the diversification enterprises on estates and farms. These political engagement events are so important and allow MSPs to meet with our members face to face and open discussions in an informal setting."
