Industry asked to support

Scottish Land & Estates attended an industry liaison meeting with VisitScotland earlier this week.  Representatives from the tourism industry were brought up to date with progress on VisitScotland’s new national website which is on course to launch in April of this year.

At the meeting VisitScotland staff were praised for their efforts on the project which from the demonstration we were given looks fresh, contemporary and suitably user-focussed.  A major change is that the new site is not primarily about accommodation, but achieves a balance between activities, events, tours and accommodation.

It was noted that the website will only live up to expectations if it is well populated by those with tourist facilities.  To this end, industry were called upon to ensure they made the most of the opportunity to new website will provide for them, by listing on it.  VisitScotland are to issue details in the very near future of how providers can place a listing.  Once this information is available we will include it in Enews.

The Country Sports Tourism Group and Historic Houses Association Scotland, who were also represented at the meeting, will also be given listing details.
