Scottish Land & Estates, which represents more than 2,500 landowners, has welcomed today’s decision on the Moonzie case, describing the ruling as a ‘sensible way forward for the industry to deal with rent reviews’.
Douglas McAdam, Chief Executive of Scottish Land & Estates, said: “The original Scottish Land Court decision, which resulted in a lack of certainty, has been overturned in today’s ruling. The Court of Session’s decision provides the basis for a sensible way forward in the statutory review of rents as it reflects what happens in real life.
“Throughout Scotland, landlords and tenants are able to sit down and agree practical rents. That is a good process for Scottish agriculture which will be able to continue as a result of today’s decision.”
